New procedure for
ACC Student Identification Cards

Date: July 19, 2006

RE: ACC's new photo Student ID cards

Beginning in the fall 2006 semester, ACC students will have a Student ID card with a photo. The new Student ID card will be permanent; it will not expire at the end of each semester.

Because students must have their pictures taken for the new card, ID cards for Distance Learning students will no longer be mailed.

Students can come to any campus Admissions & Records Office the day after registering for fall 2006 classes to obtain a Student ID card. A valid state or federally issued photo ID, such as a Driver's License, must be presented.

Although students can obtain the new photo ID card now, it will be not valid for ACC services until fall classes begin on August 28. Students enrolled for summer 2006 courses will continue to use the current ACC Student ID card to access campus services. ID cards for students taking only Distance Learning courses in the second 5.5-week summer session will be mailed after the second week of the session.

Please help us share this information with your Distance Learning students. Faculty members whose courses require students to use services on campus, such as the Academic Testing Centers, Libraries, and Computer Labs, should be sure to include information about the new ACC Student ID card in their fall course syllabi.

For further information about ACC ID cards, including details on additional options for students to obtain a new card, visit the Distance Learning website at http://dl.austincc.edu.
