Before you begin the course, it is important to decide whether you are

  • in the right course
  • prepared to learn via distance learning
  • have an appropriate computer to do the work and will buy the course materials on time
  • will be able to meet the requirements of the course. This includes spending the required amount of time each week and taking tests at ACC Testing Centers approximately every two weeks.

We are using the same materials in all the sections of MATD 0330, but in the Distance Learning classes you are absolutely required to use the MyMathLab software program. That is also true in some, but not all, of the classroom sections. You are also required to do paper homework from the book. The MyMathLab software includes an electronic version of the book, but most students find it inconvenient to use only that. I suggest you get the package from the bookstore that has the access code for MyMathLab and the paper book, in looseleaf fashion, with holes punched so you can put it in a notebook. Find more detailed information about the required materials under "Required Materials" on the General Course Information page from the link on the left.

So, to begin, start the online Orientation.

The first part of the Orientation is to be done about the time you enroll, when there is still time to change to a different class if necessary.

The second part of the Orientation should be done before the class begins and before you purchase your materials.

The third part of the Orientation is to be done at the beginning of the first week of class.
