TI 86 Graphing calculator

To do statistics on this calculator, you must first enter the data into a list or lists and then call a Stat menu to do the calculations.

The guidebook: http://education.ti.com/guidebooks/graphing/86/86bookeng.pdf

To delete old data from lists, use the method of editing the list (below) that lets you see what is in it, and then delete the values or write over them.

There are several ways to enter data into lists.

I recommend that you use the Stat List Editor. This looks most like entering data into a statistics program or spreadsheet. This is briefly described in Chapter 11, starting on page 156. You can just use the names xStat and yStat, or you can rename your lists with names you choose.

(Another way of entering data into a list is described in Chapter 11, where you just type the values in like this {4, 5, 6, 7, 7} and then store it in a list, whose name you make up right there. See page 154 (top) "Creating a list name by storing a list.")

To do the various calculations, use the Stat Calc menu. That is discussed on page 12-24.

To find the mean and standard deviation, use Stat Calc menu, described on page 189. For mean and standard deviation, use OneVa. The mean and standard deviation are given by the same symbols as in our text: x-bar and s.

To do regression, use Stat Calc as described in the previous paragraph, and then TwoVa. See page 189.
