Interpreting your (Paper-and-Pencil) ACC Assessment Test Scores

(These tests were mainly given at ACC from about 1986 through 1992 and have been used since 1992 when computers weren't available at a particular time or location to give the CPT or COMPASS.)

  1. Elementary Algebra Paper-and-Pencil test score is 0-14. If your Arithmetic score is 0-5, you are advised to enroll in MATD 0330, Basic Math Skills. If your Arithmetic score is 6-10, you are advised to enroll in MATD 0350, Prealgebra.
  2. Elementary Algebra Paper-and-Pencil test score is 15-20. Course placement recommendation is Elementary Algebra, MATD 0370, or Topics in Developmental Math, MATD 0360, depending on your educational goals.
  3. Elementary Algebra Paper-and-Pencil test score is 21 or more. You must read further to explore your options. Choose either a developmental or college-level math course appropriate for your educational goal and mathematics background. Go to the CPT main page and explore the third section there, for students who have scored 62-120 on the CPT test. The advice for you is the same as the advice given there, since your score is equivalent to one in that range.
