Implementation of Online Withdrawal Form
We propose that the current system of very simple online withdrawals stay in effect during the "add-drop" period at the beginning of the semester. Thus, at that time, students will be able to withdraw from classes without answering extra questions. This is necessary in order to make it possible for them to add a course in the same registration transaction.
We propose that, immediately after the add-drop period, students be required to fill out this new online withdrawal form, because, at that point, they cannot easily replace the course in their schedule.
We recommend that the actual withdrawal form have a rather strong statement on the last page like "Submission of this means that you WILL BE WITHDRAWN from the course. Please do not submit this until you are sure." It seems inappropriate to put such a statement on a draft form - just in case some student sees at the draft form. Thus, that statement is not included here.
