Crunch-It Statistical Software
Crunch-It statistical software is a web-based program which is very low-cost or free. It is not as powerful as MINITAB or other professional statistical software, but it is powerful enough to be useful. Because it is essentially free, you can use it at home or anywhere you have a web browser and can be used on either PCs or Macs. Because it is so similar to MINITAB, it is easy for students in this class to go back and forth between using it and using MINITAB.
Crunch-It does not replace MINITAB in this course. You must use MINITAB some in order to meet the requirements of the course.
Most students in this course can obtain access to Crunch-It for free. Obtain access to Crunch-It in any one of these ways:
- Under Resources in StatsPortal. (StatsPortal comes with new copies of our textbook, Moore's Basic Practice of Statistics. It has MANY resources. The stand-alone cost of StatsPortal is $47, purchased online. Purchase StatsPortal. This includes the complete text as an e-book, StatTutor, the MINITAB Manual, and access to the Crunch-It software, as well as many other things.)
- From within the Online Study Center. (The Online Study Center has all the resources of StatsPortal except the e-book and some gradebook and assignment features that are not required. The stand-alone cost is $25, purchased online. Purchase Online Study Center. This includes StatTutor, the MINITAB Manual, and access to the Crunch-It software,as well as many other things.)
- From the publisher's website for our course, using the access code printed in the back of your text under the textbook CD, IF NO PREVIOUS STUDENT used that access code to specifically get access to Crunch It. Go to this website to get access to CrunchIt and the EESEE cases.
- Purchase access from http://www.statcrunch.com/. The cost is $5 for a six-month subscription and $8 for a year-long subscription.
Be sure to go to the lab at school to use MINITAB as required on the problems listed in the homework as needing MINITAB.
