PAR 1163 Topics in Developmental Mathematics

An alternative to PAR 1173 Elementary Algebra for students who

need to pass TASP

and
only need to take a non-algebra intensive college-level course:

MTH 1513 - Math, Its Spirit and Use; MTH 1563 - Elementary Statistics; MTH 1583 - Technical Math

This course surveys a variety of mathematical topics including:

geometry
problem solving
arithmetic
algebra
calculator use

Prerequisite: A passing grade of C or better in Prealgebra or an acceptable score on the ACC Placement Exam (Same as for PAR 1173)

Warning: Students should not take this course if they need to prepare for one of these college-credit mathematics courses:

MTH 1643 - Math for Business & Economics
MTH 1743 - College Algebra
MTH 1753 - Trigonometry

Students who wish to take these courses should take PAR 1173 (Elementary Algebra) and PAR 1193 (Intermediate Algebra)
