If you are exempt from the TSI requirements for any reason that doesn't involve a test score or only involves the TAKS score:
and you have passed Algebra I , Geometry, and Algebra II in high school, then you are eligible to take
In our experience, students who did well in high school or who have been successful in college and who have successfully completed all of the indicated high school courses, even if it was a long time ago, have usually developed the level of mathematical sophistication needed for these college-level courses.
All of our other mathematics courses require a level of algebraic manipulative skill that most students do not recall when they have been away from mathematics for more than a few years. If you have not had the above-mentioned courses in high school, or if you need other courses for your educational goal, you will need to take the current ACC Assessment Test to measure your current math skills. You will probably place higher in the math curriculum if you review some algebra before you take the ACC Assessment Test. You can review by working through some of our Prerequisite Review Sheets, reviewing from some algebra book on your own or with a friend, or watching some of the algebra reviews we broadcast on the ACC cable channel before the beginning of each semester.
If you were exempt from TSI requirements for SAT or ACT scores, additional information is available.
If you were exempt from TSI requirements for some other reason besides those listed here you will need to take the current ACC Assessment Test to measure your current math skills.
