Important notice for students taking MATD 0330, 0370, 0390, and MATH 1314.

(This is a critical notice for students taking Distance Learning and Computer-Mediated Math courses)

Starting in Fall 2009, in these four ACC courses: MATD 0330, MATD 0370, MATD 0390, MATH 1314, we will be using the same book for the Distance Learning and Computer-Mediated classes as we use the the regular classroom classes.

MATD 0330 Basic Math Skills uses Prealgebra, 4th edition, by Blair, Tobey, and Slater

A new copy purchased from the ACC bookstore will include a folder with an access code to the web software MyMathLab, which is required in the Distance Learning and Computer-Mediated classes and in some of the classroom classes. Purchasing that access by itself costs about $70. This is web-based software. Read here for computer system requirements.

A used copy of the book will not include that access to MyMathLab. A new copy purchased elsewhere may or may not include access to MyMathLab. Inquire carefully before you purchase your text.

In the Distance Learning classes, it doesn't matter whether you have the paper copy of the book or not. If you choose to use the electronic copy of the book in the MyMathLab software, that will be fine. If you take a course which meets in a classroom, you must ask your teacher if you are required to have a paper copy of the book itself.
