Information for Students**, page 1 of 2
2002-2003
Text: Applied Calculus with Linear Programming a Special Edition by Barnett & Ziegler, Pearson Custom Publishing. This book is also used for Business Calculus II.
Optional: Student Solutions Manual, solutions to selected odd problems.
Course objectives: http://www.austincc.edu/mthdept2/tfcourses/obj1425.htm
Calculator: Students need either a scientific or business calculator. If you cannot purchase one, they are available from the library. Graphing calculators are fine, but their use may be restricted on the graphing test.
Course Prerequisite: College Algebra (MATH 1314) or Mathematics for Business and Economics (MATH 1324). College Algebra is the preferred prerequisite for students who will also take Business Calculus II, MATH 1476.
Course Syllabus/Calendar/Suggested Testing Schedule: Applications will be emphasized throughout the course. Instructors may introduce supplemental materials as needed.

Testing, Grading, and Homework: One possible testing scheme is described on this page. Your instructor may use a different scheme. Your instructor will give you an additional handout with details on his/her testing, grading, and homework policies.
Withdrawals and Incompletes: After the withdrawal date each semester, neither the student nor the instructor may initiate a withdrawal. It is the student's responsibility to initiate all withdrawals in this course. Regular attendance is expected in this course. The instructor may withdraw students for excessive absences (more than 4) or who fail to meet course objectives, but makes no commitment to do this for the student.
Incomplete grades (I) will be given only in very rare circumstances. Generally, to receive a grade of I, a student must have taken all examinations, be passing, and have a personal tragedy after the last date to withdraw which prevents course completion.
