General Information

What to do if you miss the first day of class

Individual class information:
While individual instructors have some flexibility in designing their courses, each will conform to the departmental material available from the course listings on the right-hand side of this page. Each individual instructor will give the student a first-day handout that gives students information about all the topics on these departmental handouts and, in addition, information about the instructor's office number, office hours, grading scheme, and information about their policies on attendance, homework, withdrawals, and incompletes.

Special sections:
We offer occasional special sections of courses. In many cases, these are computer-mediated sections. For each, there is a note in the schedule with a web address for more information. Table of Contents for all the notes in the MATH and MATD portions of the schedule.

Information on the Web:
Some of the instructors make their individual course information available on the Web, indeed, some have supplemental material that may be of interest to all students, not just those in their sections. Lists of individual faculty members' Websites with information about the course are also given in the course listings on the right-hand side of this page.

Prerequisites:
Students are responsible for making sure that they have the prerequisites for a course before enrolling for it. These documents describe the prerequisite requirements. On the first day of class, the instructor will check the prerequisites and may withdraw students.

We have an extensive set of Prerequisite Review Sheets for our courses.

Course objectives are also available.
