CURRENTLY BEING GROWN
Have TBS members collect growth data on numerous types of bamboos being grown in Texas and surrounding areas.
Post information on the web concerning locations where different which
bamboos are being grown, such as by city. No individuals or exact locations
will be identified without approval of the grower.
This is part of a larger project called the TBS Bamboo Plant Evaluation Research Project.
Grow one or more bamboo plants in Texas, or in a neighboring state,
in a habitat similar to one found in Texas.
Sign the TBS Stewardship Agreement
Grow the bamboo plants outdoors, either in the ground or in a container
Keep growth records for at least four years and submit information to TBS every year grow the plants until they are ready to be propagated by divisions
Provide TBS with a total of three propagated plants, within three years of the time that the plants are ready to be propagated, during August in time for the Texas Bamboo Festival.
Keep the original plant.
TBS will use the propagated plants to grow,
sell or continue/expand the program.
Certain plants sold at TBS functions (auctions, plant digs, plant
sales).
Stewardship plants may be available at discounted prices from plant digs.
Stewardship plants sold at TBS auctions are chosen for the data which they will provide.
Plants which members own already.
If you have plants already and would like to grow them as part of this
program, TBS would love to have you submit data annually as part of the
TBS
Bamboo Plant Evaluation Research Project.
