ACC panel discusses equity-minded instructional practices

Building Bridges March 2019

Austin Community College (ACC) presents a panel discussion on curriculum changes to engage underserved populations from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, March 8, at 1709 E. 12th Street.

The panel will share equity-minded instructional practices and provide background on the need for shifting the focus in the classroom to be more inclusive of students.

"It's important that we understand who we're serving in the classroom," says Loretta Edelen, ACC Community Engagement director. "Many ACC students are students of color with backgrounds that may differ from our faculty. We want to help faculty find new ways to better connect with all of their students."

The presenters are:

  • Charlotte Gullick, Creative Writing department chair
  • Azzura Crispino, Philosophy associate professor
  • Dr. Chantae Recasner, Faculty and Instructional Development dean

Hosted by ACC's Equity and Inclusion Office, the event is part of the college's monthly Building Bridges series. It is free and open to the public.
