Austin Community College is hosting a college fair in conjunction with the groundbreaking celebration for the new Hays Campus. The event is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center (979 Kohlers Crossing in Kyle), across from the future campus site.
The college fair follows the groundbreaking program and features a variety of ACC programs leading to careers in health sciences, business studies, hospitality management, computer studies and advanced technologies, fire protection technology, arts and humanities, and more. The fair also will provide information on financial aid, Continuing Education, and Early College Start programs.
“We invite families and Hays residents of all ages to attend the fair and learn about the programs and services ACC offers,” says Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC president/CEO. “Lots of great information will be available at this event.”
The groundbreaking celebration will feature refreshments and local entertainment, with performances by the Lehman High School Mariachi Los Lobos and the Fuentes Elementary Star Choir.
Parking for the event will be available at the Performing Arts Center and Hays High School (4800 Jack C Hays Trail in Buda); shuttle service will be available.
Hays Campus will be located on 98 acres at Kohlers Crossing and Kyle Parkway. Construction begins later this summer; it is scheduled to open in early 2014, in time for spring semester. The three-story structure will offer core curriculum/transferable courses and career training in specialized business programs, computer networking and security, child development, first responder programs, and more. Hays CISD residents already enjoy the benefits of in-district tuition.
ACC is an open-door institution, with everyone meeting eligibility criteria encouraged to enroll. Fall 2012 registration is open to all new, former, and current students. For more information and to sign up for classes, visit the registration webpage.
