View the Video: General Assembly Draws Ideas, Inspiration

ACC faculty and staff gathered to reconnect and kick off a new year at the fall General Assembly on Friday, Aug. 23.

Following a recognition of ACC employee association officers, college President/CEO Dr. Richard Rhodes discussed enrollment trends, new and ongoing programs for university co-enrollment, and proposed state policies impacting higher education.

Keynote speaker Kay McClenney, director of the Center for Community College Student Engagement, asked student panelists about their ACC experience and their suggestions for helping students succeed.

McClenney said that colleges must redirect their efforts and resources to areas where they have the most impact, while aligning programs and services with what students say they need. She cited survey results indicating that 91 percent of ACC students consider academic planning and advising as the most important student service, followed by computer centers and career counseling.
