State Charitable Campaign Kicks Off Oct.1

This year’s State Employee Charitable Campaign kicks off Tuesday, Oct. 1, and continues until the end of the month.

The campaign gives employees an opportunity to contribute to dozens of charities directly involved with helping Central Texas residents, including the Capital Area Food Bank, the American Red Cross of Central Texas, Capital IDEA, SafePlace, and the Humane Society of Austin and Travis County. Employees also may give to a number of national and international organizations such as the March of Dimes and Habitat for Humanity, or even to individuals in the ACC community through the ACC Foundation. View the complete list of SECC charities.

During the 2012 campaign, ACC employees contributed more than $71,500. This year, the college hopes to collect more than $80,000 in contributions.

“The State Employee Charitable Campaign is a tradition that benefits so many within the communities ACC serves,” says Geraldine Tucker, vice president of human resources. “Our employees never waiver in their willingness to open their hearts to help those in need.”

Contributing to the campaign is easy: Employees may donate through a payroll deduction or make a one-time gift. Donation pledge forms can be obtained from designated SECC representatives at each campus. Each campus also will have special fundraising activities, including a “Change for Charity” competition to see which campus can collect the most money through donations of spare change.
