The new site features a clean, easy-to-read design and an enhanced navigational structure that will make it easier for all students – including those new to the college experience – to find information and complete tasks.
“Our research indicated a need to streamline and reorganize web content so that students could easily find information,” says Brette Lea, ACC executive director of public information and college marketing. “The new site not only reflects best practices in web design, it will support our collegewide initiative to promote and increase student success.”
The new site provides a visible and intuitive navigational path that begins before a student comes to ACC, and continues through registration, earning a degree, transferring to a university, and/or beginning a career. Essential information about financial aid, support services, and key dates also can be accessed from the new homepage.
The first phase of the redesign addresses top-level webpages for critical student tasks, and many current ACC webpages will remain unchanged. In the coming months, other webpages and college websites will be converted to the new design. Ultimately, content owners will use the Drupal content management tool to update and maintain the information on their webpages.
The launch follows a collegewide survey and preview of the site conducted early last month. Of the almost 400 students, faculty, and staff who participated, 91 percent approved the site’s new look, while 82 percent indicated they could find information easily.
Web Administrator Edward Terry said the redesign team will monitor usage analytics and feedback to continually improve the site.
