Austin Community College’s Music Business, Performance, and Technology (MBPT) Department will host summer workshops for high school students, offering hands-on experience in the music and sound production business. Students will learn about the industry, take part in a professional recording session, and produce a demo.
Two sessions will be held, July 21-25 and July 28 to Aug. 1. Applications are due July 15.
“This is definitely not your average summer camp,” says Francis Preve, adjunct professor of MBPT and 2014 Austin Music Awards winner for Best Electronic Artist. “We immerse students in the music production industry and give them access to the same equipment used by professionals. The workshop allows students to truly experience what a career in this field is all about.”
The workshop is open to all incoming high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Spring 2014 high school graduates may be admitted if they plan to attend ACC. The workshop fee is $40.
