Dahlia Anzaldua-Torres, marketing event coordinator, is Riverbats Bravo Employee of the Year. As the Riverbat’s “mom,” Anzaldua-Torres manages mascot appearances and accompanies him to events to promote ACC. She also coordinates all marketing-related events, such as the August 27 Highland Campus grand opening. She has worked at ACC for 22 years.
Daniel O’Hanlon, coordinator in the Institutional Planning & Assessment office, has been selected to participate in the 2015 Leadership Austin Essential Class. Essential Class members complete a nine-month program in which they explore issues impacting Austin and hone leadership skills. Andy Kim, director of environmental stewardship, was a member of the 2014 Essential Class.
Ashleigh Fuller, adjunct assistant professor and manager of the CAD Training Center, helped coordinate a “Night at the Museum” fund-raising event at the Thinkery for Growing Roots, which serves families of children with special needs. The event raised $42,000.
David Lydic, professor of English, is serving this year as president of the Texas Community College Teachers Association, a 6,000-member organization representing all Texas two-year college teachers in all disciplines.
Mary Beth Booth, associate professor of geography, discussed using ArcGIS Online as a course management system in a GIS course at the annual ESRI Education GIS Conference. Directions Magazine referenced her presentation in an article about the conference.
Maria Lyle, adjunct professor of visual communication, and Janet Brooks, professor of art, will exhibit their work at Link & Pin art space during September. The opening reception is 6-8 p.m. Saturday, September 6.
Kelly Arthrell’s recipe for Hatch Green Chile Chicken Enchilada casserole is included in the August Austin Fit magazine. Arthrell, adjunct assistant professor in the hospitality management and culinary arts departments, also is an instructor at HEB Central Market Cooking School.
