Golf Tournament Nets $32,600 for ACC Squires Scholarship

Austin--Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) is donating $32,600 to Austin Community College Foundation. SEMI hosted its annual charity golf tournament in May to raise the funds.

The SEMI Austin Golf Classic benefited the SEMI Frank Squires Scholarship Fund at ACC. The scholarship was named in memory of the late Frank Squires, for his many contributions to workforce development in the semiconductor industry.

This is the third year the ACC Foundation has been the beneficiary of the tournament's proceeds. "We are grateful to SEMI, and especially the golf tournament committee, who make a stronger commitment to us each year," said Stephanie Diina, the executive director of the ACC Foundation. "They set their goal high and almost tripled the amount raised last year. In the past, we have been able to provide financial assistance to five students with the money raised from the tournament. This year, we could offer as many as 13 scholarships."

Based in San Jose, CA, SEMI is a trade association serving more than 2,300 companies participating in the $65 billion semiconductor and flat panel display equipment and materials markets. SEMI maintains offices in Austin, Beijing, Boston, Brussels, Hsinchu, Moscow, Seoul, Singapore, Tokyo, and Washington. SEMI will officially present a check to the ACC Foundation on Monday, August 7, at the ACC board of trustees meeting.
