ACC Hosts Forum on Terrorism

Austin-- Austin Community College's Social and Behavioral Sciences Division is sponsoring a forum to promote understanding and healing following the events of September 11th. The forum will be held today at ACC's Riverside Campus Lecture Hall Building G, Room 8100, from 12:30 - 2:30 P.M.

"These forums are important because they provide background and basic information on these events and why they are occurring now," said Rex Peoples, Dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences. "More important, the speakers will help people put events into some context, so that we don't blame all individuals who look like those who perpetrated this act of violence."

Speakers will include two ACC professors: David Lauderback, associate professor of history, who has studied terrorism and the Middle Eastern situation. Associate Professor of Economics Geoffrey Andron will discuss the economic implications of the war and other current events.

A question and answer session will follow to allow students and the public an opportunity to inquire about the attack on America and/or other concerns they may have regarding these recent events.

For more information, call ACC's Social and Behavioral Sciences Division at 223-3770.
