Nonprofit Incorporation
Review our outline on Starting
a Nonprofit in Texas to get a basic orientation to this process;
before you seek other counsel. Then access further resources within our
Online Library at Starting
a 501 (c) 3 Nonprofit in Texas.
Reading this material before seeking other counsel will help you clarify
what you wish to achieve as well as make you a far more educated consumer
- should you seek the consulting services of our Center or of others. These
resources wil help you determine if you really want to create a new nonprofit
corporation and provide you with a basic understanding of the requirements
and responsibilities in that regard.
Whether you use our services or others, we strongly urge you to check
your consultants' references and make sure you get copies of all documents filed on your behalf right after they are filed and copies of all documents received from the Secretary of State and IRS as soon as they are received by your consultant.
Our fee for drafting and filing your Certificate of Formation/
Articles of Incorporation, obtaining your Employers Identification Number,
drafting organizational bylaws, and assisting you with the completion
and submission of the IRS 1023 application to become a 501 (c) 3 entity varies from $900 to more if extra consulting and processing is required.
Included in this is a reasonable amount of consultation on the questions
related to these documents and processes. If more consultation
is required, we would define the need and agree upon an additional fee.
In addition to our fee, you will be responsible for the filing fee of
$25 to the TX Secretary of State for the Certificate of Formation and the
IRS filing fees ($300 if gross revenue less than $10,000 & $750 if
$10,000 or more).
To simplify our process, we request full payment of our fee upon engagement.
In addition,we request your completion of the forms we use to
obtain the information we require to assist you in this process. Thereafter,
we meet to review what has been prepared, be sure it is in sync with what
you want, and then proceed with the other steps in the filing processes
