Ron Johns - Associate Dean, Assessment & Evaluation

Ron Johns serves as the Associate Dean for Academic Assessment, supporting faculty and departments and guiding the instructional assessment of the approximately 250 credit programs the college offers.  He also leads the evaluation and maintenance of the general education framework and the Core Curriculum.  He works closely with the Institutional Planning and Evaluation office to support the integration of instructional goals and objectives into the larger planning process.  Ron came to ACC in 1990 as an adjunct instructor for geology, and continues to be a full-time faculty member in the Earth & Environmental Sciences department.  He was the Chair of the Physical Sciences Department from 2001-2005, and oversaw the college's programs in Astronomy, Engineering, Geology, and Physics.  He is also a former Chair of the General Studies department from 2009-2015, which grew to over 6500 majors by the time he stepped down.  

Ron obtained his B.S with honors in Geology from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, then continued his education at the University of Texas at Austin. He received his M.A in Geological Sciences in 1987, and his Ph.D. in Geological Sciences in 1993.  His graduate focus was on paleontology, and he has several publications on fossil sponges.

Leah Jensen - Planning & Assessment Specialist: Institutional Planning, Development & Evaluation

 Leah M. Jensen serves as the Planning and Assessment Specialist for Institutional Planning, Development & Evaluation (IP&E) at the Highland Business Center. She is responsible for supporting and maintaining the college wide assessment database (TracDat), in addition to supporting workshops and professional development in areas related to planning and assessment. Leah originally joined ACC in 2011 as a computer lab support technician for the Visual Communication Department. She has also worked for IT as a senior technician within the ACCelerator at the Highland Campus.
Leah has several years of experience leading and personalizing support in academic environments. Her roles have included teaching, tutoring, technical support, and more at high schools and community colleges in Texas. She has a B.A. in English with Magna Cum Laude Honors, and a M.Ed. in Education. She is a 2015 graduate of the ACC Leadership Academy, and a current participant in the 2017-2018 Supervisor Certificate Program cohort.  Leah has also received an ACC Bravo award for outstanding service.
