Employee Assistance Program

ACC’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services are available to staff, faculty, and adjunct faculty.

Administered by Deer Oaks, the EAP provides free and confidential assessment, short-term counseling, prevention, education, and referral services for employees and their dependents. Trained counselors are available 24/7, 365 days of the year to help you and your dependents cope with life’s stressors so that you can live a happy, productive lifestyle. Employees may have up to eight confidential sessions with a counselor at no cost. Deer Oaks also can help with a range of personal needs including legal, financial, adoption, tobacco cessation, and more.

Types of Referrals

Standard – A counselor is appointed within 2-3 business days from the time of the telephone assessment. The case manager contacts the employee with the appointed counselor’s name and contact information. The counselor must have availability within five business days of accepting the case.

Urgent – Appointments for urgent requests are escalated and the case manager will contact the client with a confirmed referral to an affiliate counselor within six business hours. The provider must have appointment availability within two business days of the initial contact with the EAP. In-the-moment telephonic counseling is provided to those in need of such support.

Emergent – In extreme crisis situations, the case manager follows the escalation procedure as warranted. This may include involvement of emergency services, ER or hospitalization to preserve the employee’s safety. If emergency services become involved, we ensure that the appropriate services are being offered by confirming with the emergency responders who arrive on the scene, whenever possible. If not possible, we provide a welfare check to ensure that the crisis has been resolved. If the safety of the caller is confirmed and emergency services are not needed, the counselor will provide in-the-moment support. Face-to-face counseling is then provided on the timeframe for urgent requests.
