Dr. Charles M. Cook joined Austin Community College as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs in 2014. As the chief academic officer, he guides and oversees all programs relating to instruction and student services.
Previously, Dr. Cook oversaw academic matters for Houston Community College, a multicollege system serving more than 70,000 students (1999-July 2014). He also worked for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board on planning and policy issues for statewide community and technical college instructional programs and initiatives (1994-1999). He has been both a college instructor and high school teacher.
Dr. Cook holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Texas at Austin, a master’s degree in U.S. history from the University of Houston, and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Houston.
