About the Vice President, Student Services

Virginia Fraire, Ph.D., was appointed Vice President of Student Services at Austin Community College (ACC) in February 2015.  Dr. Fraire leads the administration of admissions and records, student assistance and veteran affairs, special population services, student life, advising, counseling, Title IX, student conduct, behavioral intervention, recruitment, community outreach, bridge and supplemental instruction, student learning labs, and assessment and academic testing.

Dr. Fraire has dedicated her entire career to advancing postsecondary education attainment, with a strong emphasis on community colleges.  She has served the ACC community for more than 15 years, holding multiple professional positions in student services.  Most recently, from 2006 through 2014 she served as dean of student services at the Riverside and Pinnacle campuses.  Dr. Fraire also held multiple director-level positions at Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation (TG).  She collaborated with state and national consortia to advance participation and success.  She led TG’s efforts to establish a Community College Center on Financial Aid Policy.

She has served as an adjunct faculty at ACC and St. Edward’s University.  She also serves on the Board of Directors for the St. David’s South Austin Medical Center.

Dr. Fraire is an ACC alumna. She holds a Bachelor and Master degrees in Social Work and a Doctorate in Educational Administration from the Community College Leadership Program, all from The University of Texas at Austin.   She and her husband, Jacob Fraire, live in Austin with their five children.
