Datatel Security FAQ's
| Question |
Answer |
| What are the steps to obtaining a datatel login? |
Once an employee has an active pay assignement, either the supervisor or the employee should fill out the Datatel Login Request Form:
http://www.austincc.edu/opertaions/forms/loginrequest.php Once the form is submitted, a copy will be sent to the supervisor for approval. Once approved, the form is then sent to Operations for completion. Login information for should be received via email within 2 working days of approval. Please note, access requiring additional training and/or approval will only be granted once Operations receives authorization from the appropriate department.
| I submitted the form as the supervisor, why do I still have to receive an email and manually approve the access?
Since the form is online, Operations does not know who is submitted the form. It could be the supervisor, the employee or a co-worker. By requiring the supervisor to email us and state their approval, we are reassured the supervisor does indeed approve.
| Who can have access to datatel?
Any employee that has an active pay assignment with ACC may receive a datatel login with supervisor approval.
| Can workstudy's and hourly employees have a datatel login?
Any employee that has an active pay assignment with ACC may receive a datatel login with supervisor approval.
| Can my Intern have a datatel login? |
Our current procedures only allow users with active pay assignments to have access to ACC systems.
| How is datatel security set up?
In datatel we have thousands of mnemonics (or screens). These mnemonics are grouped into what we call security classes which are mostly based job position or function with the college. The security classes are then assigned to users. |
| Can I receive a report of everthing I have access too? |
Yes! We can provide reports to supervisors or staff members. Any changes to access would have to be approved by the supervisor or data owner. |
| My supervisor approved my datatel access, why do I still have to get approval from another department? |
Supervisors approve, what we like to call, basic access, the security class that is for your position. Things such as purchasing, text book ordering, facutly assignments and several others have to be approved (and most of the time training is provided) by the department first because they are the "data owners". |
