About Me

I have taught ACC's classroom composition and literature courses and also courses for Honors, Developmental, Technical Writing, Creative Writing, and Distance Learning. I've served as department chair and assistant department chair and was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Service to ACC. I have also taught for Tarrant County College and Corsicana College and am a Certified Texas Teacher, with a 96 on the National Teacher Exam and a perfect score on the exam for Texas teachers. I worked my way through college in various retail jobs, waitstaffing, and work study programs, earning an A.A. in speech and drama at Tyler Junior College, and a B.A. in English with a minor in speech and a Master's in English with a minor in counseling from The University of Texas at Arlington and have Master's work in counseling from The University of North Texas at Denton and Alumni Scholarships for Excellence. I've also worked in journalism and advertising and performed in community theatre. I have traveled in twenty-seven countries and enjoy history, science, culture, and all of the arts, particularly painting, photography, and architecture and am an avid gardener, cook, photographer, and nature enthusiast.
