I
started my photographic training at Central Texas College in the
Austin campus. When CTC closed down and ACC begun, I was one of
the first students in our Photographic Program. I am a graduate
of the ACC Photographic Technology Department. My professional photography
work outside of the photo department was in wedding and portrait
photography. Before I started working at Austin Community College
I worked for a local professional commercial photographer as a lab
technician. I started working at ACC as a Technical Staff Assistant
one year after the college opened. I have taught Fundamentals of
Photography and the Technical Darkroom classes (now called Color
Photography) here at ACC since 1980. I want the students to strive
beyond mediocrity in their class and also in their work place. If
a student feels pride in the work they do at school, they will also
learn to feel that pride out in their real world. The atmosphere
that I want for my students is one in which they can feel free to
come to me whenever they need my help. My students are very important
to me, not only am I teaching them something, but I also learn from
students. I sometimes learn what is important in their lives and
that helps me relate to them.
