Meeting Minutes
August 18, 1999

The Physical Sciences Task Force met at noon Wednesday, August 18, 1999 at the Brick Oven on Red River.

    1. Approval of Agenda - approved as submitted.
    2. Approval of Minutes- The Minutes of all previous meetings back to March, 1999 were unavailable, and will be approved whenever made available by last year's TF Leader.
    3. Several information items were discussed, but no actions were taken. Those attending were informed of the missing physics courses for Spring 2000, and how that problem was corrected. Also it was announced that the new Common Course Numbers must appear on all syllabi this Fall. The new portfolio requirements were discussed, but a decision was postponed until the next meeting. Earth Science Week activities were discussed, and names of some local businesses which might support our fledgling Environmental Technology program were solicited. It was announced that a new full-time lab assistant would be hired as soon as possible for the NRG physics program, and new administrative guidelines on textbooks and uniform class break times were briefly described.
    4. Physics 0141 and 1653 were singled out as particularly useful courses to schedule in 12 week sessions, and it was proposed that we pilot one of these next Spring.
    5. The pizza was great, and we decided to do this again someday.
    6. The meeting was adjourned at 1:20 pm.
