PHYS 2425/2426: Engineering Physics I/II

PHYS 2425

Description:

Calculus-based study of motion, forces, work, energy, momentum and angular momentum, vibrations and waves, and heat. Intended for majors in engineering, physics, chemistry, and mathematics.

Prerequisites:

  • Grade of "C" or better in MATH 2413 or equivalent
  • Concurrent enrollment or credit in MATH 2414 or its equivalent
  • One year of high school physics or grade of "C" or better in PHYS 1401

Fees:

  • $50.00

Other Options:

  • If you have not taken calculus, and did not take any physics in high school, you may want to try General Physics I and II (PHYS 1401/1402) before taking Engineering Physics and Calculus.

PHYS 2426

Description:

Calculus-based study of electricity and magnetism, and geometric and physical optics, and modern physics. This is the second half of the calculus-based PHYS 2425/2426 sequence.

Prerequisites:

  • Grade of "C" or better in PHYS 2425 or equivalent

AND

  • Credit in MATH 2414 or equivalent
  • One year of high school physics OR a grade of "C" or better in PHYS 1401

Fees:

  • $50.00

Other Options:

  • If you have not taken calculus, and did not take any physics in high school, you may want  to try General Physics I and II (PHYS 1401/1402) before taking Engineering Physics and Calculus.
