ACC Academic Programs (core curriculum) include Arts and Humanities, Communications, Math and Sciences, and Social and Behavioral Sciences.
Tutoring support and software programs for writing required in any academic program/discipline are available at every Learning Lab. Although writing tutors may not be subject-matter experts in a particular discipline (for example, Engineering Physics), they are well qualified to help students with issues of clarity, documentation, and organization for most writing assignments.
In the Arts & Humanities program, the disciplines for which the Learning Labs provide tutoring resources and/or software resources include: ESOL, French, German, Humanities, Philosophy, Russian, and Spanish.
For Communications, the Learning Labs support English/Writing (including Developmental Writing Skills), Developmental Reading Skills, Speech, and Study Skills.
Math & Science disciplines supported by the Learning Labs include Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics/Developmental Mathematics, Physical Science, and Physics.
The Social and Behavioral Science areas that receive support from the Learning Lab are Economics, Government, History, Human Development, Psychology, and Sociology.
ACC Workforce Education includes Advanced Technology, Applied Science, Applied Technologies, Business Studies, Health Sciences, and Public Services.
In Workforce Education’s Applied Sciences, the disciplines for which the Learning Labs provide tutoring resources and/or software resources include: Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics/Developmental Mathematics, Physical Science, and Physics.
For Workforce Education’s Business Studies, the Learning Labs offer support in the areas of Accounting, Culinary Arts, and Technical Communication.
With tutors qualified in Anatomy & Physiology, in Pharmacology and Dosage Calculations, in Nursing, and in Medical Terminology, the Learning Labs support Workforce Education’s Health Sciences programs.
For the Public Services program, the Learning Labs offer support in the area of Child Care and Development and in the area of Criminal Justice.
Please Note: At ACC, English language instruction is offered in Academic Classes (for college credit), in Adult Education Classes (for free, but non-credit), and in Continuing Education Classes (for a fee, but non-credit).
