The official course syllabus will be maintained at this link. As the course progresses, I will update this document. Any printed copies handedout at the beginning of the class are not to be considered accurate after the course begins. Dates for labs projects and exams should be verified on this website before whenever you need current information.
Before you go any further in this course, please follow this link and fill out a course survey form so I know a bit more about you, and any special needs you might have.
Most of the lecture material comes from Powerpoint slides you can download and view offline if you wish. Note that these files are for Office 2007. If you do not have this suite installed, you can download a reader (free) from the Microsoft website.
Lab projects give you more experience working with the Microsoft Office tools you will find in most businesses you might be employed with. The lab manual is a hands-on tutorial book that contains background information you should read before attempting the lab projects. We will not lecture on these lab assignments, but I will be available to help you work through difficulties you might encounter.
You will be part of three group projects during this course. These projects are designed to give you experience working in a small team, doing research, analyzing data and preparing a presentation. Each project team will consist of 3-4 students (at most) and will require a presentation in class on the assigned date.
