Course Description:  Instruction in Internet Web Page programming and related graphic design issues including mark-up languages, Web sites, Internet access software, and interactive topics. 

 

Prerequisite(s):  B-Reading and Math. See ACC Catalog.

Students should expect to cover material in the text at least 3 times:

1.      Before class

2.      During class

XHTML Editors: Students may elect to use any XHTML editing tool such as: Notepad, Notepad2, Aptana, Amaya, MS Visual Studio, etc...  However, WSYWIG web development tools such as Dreamweaver, Frontpage/Expression Web, etc... are not appropriate for this fundamentals course.

 

Tutoring Services

 

Grade Policy:  Grade will be assigned based both on concepts and practical application. Exams, homework, and lab projects will be a part of the grade.  An overall grade will be assigned on the following grading scale:

 

90%  - 100%

80%  -  89%

B

70%  -  79%

Lab Projects:

  1. Lab files are to be submitted electronically via the Student Web Directories and Blackboard (under Assignments).
  2. Must be submitted by 11:59pm of the due date indicated in the course schedule.
  3. Labs submitted by 11:59pm of the next calendar day after the due dates are eligible for 80% credit.
  4. No credit will be awarded for projects received after the extension.
  5. In addition to submission via the Student Web Directories, also submit files to Blackboard either individually or collectively via .zip compressed format.
  6. To receive credit, programming projects must completely meet requirements exactly as specified.
  7. Partial credit is not awarded for projects that do not meet requirements.
  8. The Extra Credit Lab (to be announced in class at a later date) may be submitted to replace a Lab 1-12 submission. It is due at 11:59pm, 09Dec2008 (no extension).
  9. Option #9 – construct an HTML page with photos (your own or from the web).  Place photos in a table.

Extra Credit Lab Requirements - As described in class on 19Nov2009... Put 2 links on your main page (index.html).  The links will be Good Sites and Bad Sites.
Each link will open a page with a list of 5 sites (also links) you like (Good Sites) and 5 sites that you do not (Bad Sites).  A paragraph explaining why you like/don’t like each site should accompany each link.


Frames Examples

 

Student Web Directories:  The student web directory is the primary assignment repository.  In addition to Blackboard submissions, projects are to be uploaded to the student web directory by the due dates.  Only ITSE 1411 course related files are allowed in the student web directories.  Student web directory username and password information is for individual use only and is not to be shared. 

 

Makeup Exams: There are no makeup exams in this course.  Students may take the optional full-course comprehensive final exam to replace a ZERO for a missed exam.
