Administrative Office Procedures I (POST 1309) -- It is highly recommended that
students have experience in Microsoft Office software. Skills: R Prerequisites:
POFT 1309. Competency in Internet, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access
required. 50 wpm.
The ACC
catalog describes the course as an “In depth coverage of office applications
with special emphasis on decision making, goal setting, management theories,
and critical thinking. Use of corporate intranet and office simulation is
included to develop knowledge of internet, corporations, and integrated
software applications.”
Students will use a textbook and office simulation to obtain much-needed skills for employment in the business office. Daily work based on a corporate intranet will prepare students for unit tests. The office simulation will consist of various projects using software applications. The office simulation will take from 30 to 40 hours to complete, dependent on student’s keyboarding speed, ability to follow instructions, time management skills and knowledge of software applications.

Blackboard/Discussion
Board
Students will
log in to Blackboard WEEKLY for announcements, course information and
materials, ASSIGNMENTS, and DISCUSSION BOARD.
You may click to the side of your Blackboard menu to see a Course
Map. There will be Projects assigned
from the Customer Service book to attach in Discussion Board. There will be 3-4 students in each virtual
group; each student will complete one-two chapter projects in Discussion
Board.

Work:
Students will
also be assigned one-two Customer Service projects which will be turned in using ASSIGNMENT
LINK IN BLACKBOARD. The file will
containing student name, module or project and job number. You will turn in complete modules or
projects.
If you accidentally send the wrong
project or an incomplete project, e-mail me to “clear your attempt” BEFORE THE DUE DATE. Points
for each problem will be assigned using a project or module grade sheet. Some modification of point values may be used
at the instructor’s discretion. If
assignment is not turned in according to directions and on time, a grade
of 0 will be recorded. In unusual
circumstances, students may contact instructor 24 HOURS before due date to
discuss a ONE-TIME ONLY EXTENSION.
If you need
to turn in a copy of your screen--Follow the directions in the book until you
are ready to print. Then press the PrintScreen button on your keyboard, then press Control C
(to copy), open Microsoft Word, press Control V (paste). Then save your document and send using
ASSIGNMENT LINK.
Chapter
deadlines are assigned on a weekly basis.
Students may be withdrawn for lack of progress. Please set up an appointment to see me if I
can help you in this class. Changes in
directions will be made 2 -3 days before assignment is due, so be sure to read
ALL announcements, e-mails and discussion board items on a continual basis. (just like the real world)

Applications
Using real-word applications and scenarios, Integrated Computer
Applications combines all of the tools of Microsoft Office 2007 to create
relevant workplace solutions. This
comprehensive text with a data CD builds on your word processing skills,
introduces and applies the other suite applications, and reinforces essential
communication, keyboarding and internet skills.
Real-world projects will be turned in using Blackboard Assignments
link. In the ICA textbook, you will use
the easy-to-learn format of the introductory jobs as a review (do not turn in ). You will integrate the knowledge you’ve learned and
apply these skills into meaningful work-related applications. Important software, communications, Internet,
and decision-making skills are reinforced.
