Documentary Crew Needed:
Last summer an ACC faculty member and student joined in a run across the country that started in California and ended at the gates of Arlington Cemetery. The Run For the Fallen covered over 4, 000 miles to honor fallen heroes from the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. The experience was so meaningful to these two individuals who had lost a friend in the Iraq conflict that they wanted to bring the run to the Lone Star state closer to the Texas families who have lost loved ones in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Beginning May 17th a dedicated group of runners will run from the Amarillo, Texas area and end in Austin, Texas on May 25th, Memorial Day.
The Run is called the Lone Star Trail of Heroes: Run Across Texas. A United States flag and biographical card will be posted for every fallen hero from the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts (approx. 450 to date) for each mile the group runs. The purpose of the Run is to honor the fallen but also to raise awareness of the acute needs of our wounded veterans.
As a result, our motto is
1 Mile 1 Hero 1 Country: Raising Funds and Awareness 1 Mile at a Time
Lone Star Trail of Heroes: Run Across Texas
May 17-25, 2009
We want to film the run to record this special journey across the state. We expect that Gold Star families and friends will meet the group to join in the run to honor their fallen loved ones. Other individuals may join the run to honor a wounded veteran or honor a loved one that is currently deployed.
We are looking for ACC faculty and/or staff and students who might be interested in working on this project. Our goal is to produce a documentary that will chronicle this event.
