Closing Night
ARRÁNCAME LA VIDA (TEAR THIS HEART OUT)
Directed by Roberto Sneider, based on the novel by Ángeles Mastretta
Mexico/Spain, 2008, distributed by 20th Century Fox, 107 min.
Cast: Ana Claudia Talancón, Daniel Giménez Cacho, and José María de Tavira
Thursday April 30, 7 PM
Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar

Reportedly Mexico's biggest budget film ever and certainly a huge Mexican box-office hit, this Oscar semi-finalist explores the post-Revolutionary period through the eyes and life of a young woman, Catalina. Swept away from her humble beginnings by a powerful and ambitious rebel general, Andres Asensio, the young girl matures into a woman who sees possibilities as her husband rises in the tumultuous realm of politics. Complications arise when Catalina finds herself falling in love with an artistic left-wing activist. Epic in scope, ARRANCAME LA VIDA examines the chaos of a country torn apart by civil war and reborn with new ideals of social justice and individual possibilities. Read more and buy tickets online >>

Festival passes are $70 or individual tickets are $10 to this screening.
