This section is a listing of scholarships awarded by entities outside of Austin Community College.  The requirements, application and deadline will vary for each scholarship.  Students needing additional information about a particular scholarship should contact that program directly.

American Welding Society--District Scholarships

  • For students in a welding-related education or training program.
  • DEADLINE:  March 1

Amplify Credit Union

  • Students who will be a college freshman in the Fall 2010 (must be from Travis, Williamson, Bastrop, Caldwell or Hays county)
  • DEADLINE:  July

Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund

  • Asian & Pacific Islander American students are elgible for these scholarships.  Multiple scholarships are listed on this website.

Austin Council of the Blind (pdf application)

  • Blind or visually impaired high school graduate or college student
  • DEADLINE:  June 1

Brain Track

  • Awards scholarships in the areas of Teaching, Nursing, Computer Science and Business
  • DEADLINE:  Generally November 1 and March 1

Bryer Law Office-Viral Video Scholarship

  • Any future or current college student.  Must be at least 18 years of age to submit video application.
  • DEADLINE:  December

Charley Wooten Grant Program

  • High school seniors or graduates (including GED recipients) who plan to enroll at least half time for Fall 2011.  Student must demonstrate financial need.
  • DEADLINE:  May

Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma

  • Current and future students, must be of Choctaw descent
  • DEADLINE:  varies

Datatel Scholars Foundation

  • Currently enrolled ACC students or dual-enrolled high school students (taking at least 6 hours) who are planning on attending ACC the following academic year and enrolling in at least 6 credit hours are eligible to apply. 
  • DEADLINE:  January

Department of Homeland Security

  • Students that have attended full time with at least at 3.3 gpa.  Additional requirements on the website along with application information.
  • DEADLINE:  January

Erma Byrd Scholarship

  • Students enrolled in an associate's program leads to a career in industrial health and safety occupations.
  • DEADLINE:  March

Fast Recipes My Recipe-My Heritage Scholarship

  • Any enrolled student.
  • DEADLINE:  One the first 200 applications have been submitted

Fifth Year Accounting Student Scholarship Program

  • Students in ACC's Professional Accounting Certificate program.  Student must demonstrate financial need and have at least 120 college hours (including 15 semester credit hours of accounting).

Foundation for Global Scholars

  • Provides scholarships for students planning to study abroad.
  • DEADLINE:  Varies

Gates Millennium Scholars

  • Appicants must be enrolling in college for the first time in the Fall.  Scholarship intended for African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American with demonstrated leadership ability and financial need.
  • DEADLINE:  January

Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

  • Students of Hispanic origin planning to enroll full time.  Must have 2.8 GPA or higher
  • DEADLINE:  Information available beginning in February

Helen Brett Scholarship

  • Students with at least a 3.0 GPA who have an interest in pursuing a career in tradeshow and exhibition management.
  • DEADLINE:  July 1, 2011

Hispanic Association of College & Universities (ACC is a member institution)

  • Various scholarships for current and future ACC students.
  • DEADLINE:  May

Hispanic College Fund

  • Various scholarships for high school seniors and current students
  • DEADLINE:  Varied (most of the deadlines are in March)

Hispanic Internal Revenue Employees (HIRE)

  • 1-3 Scholarships awarded ($1000 each)
  • Do not need to be a member of their organization to apply.
  • DEADLINE:   September

Hispanic Scholarship Consortium (HSC) Scholarship Program

  • Students of hispanic origin planning on enrolling full time.
  • Renewable scholarships ranging from $2000-$5000
  • DEADLINE: March 16, 2012

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

  • Various scholarships for high school seniors and current students
  • DEADLINE:  Varied (most of the deadlines are January--March)

Home Depot Trade Scholarship Program

  • Building and Construction majors and related majors.
  • DEADLINE:  April 30, 2010

Hoopin4Life Memorial Scholarship Program

  • Graduate from a Williamson or Travis County high school
  • 2.5 GPA majoring in Theology, Kinesiology, Math or Child Development.
  • DEADLINE:  May 31, 2011

Irene S. Wischer Education Foundation Scholarship Program

  • Students with financial need and are US citizens.  Must have been legal Texas resident for 12 months prior to submitting scholarship application.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.
  • DEADLINE:  March

Jeanette Rankin Foundation

  • Women age 35 and older demonstrating significant financial need
  • DEADLINE:  March

KFC Colonel's Scholars

  • Graduating high-school seniors with at least a 2.75 GPA.
  • DEADLINE:  February

LeTendre Education Fund

  • For students who are homeless or have been homeless at some point during their school attendance.
  • DEADLINE:  September 12, 2011

Mark Beaumont Scholarship Fund

  • Awarded to current students pursuing a career specializing in the business of interactive entertainment including:  marketing, public relations, and business development.
  • DEADLINE:  June 30, 2011

 

MENSA Foundation

  • Essay competition for students enrolled in a degree-granting program (certificate or associates)
  • Scholarship to be awarded for Fall 2010

Mitty Guerra Memorial Scholarship

  • Awarded to a Hispanic woman who is residing in Austin, has overcome barriers and has shown determination in completing her educational goals.

  • Scholarships awarded to current students pursuing a career specializing in the development of interactive entertainment including: art, animation, game design, sound design, and music.

Rotary Club of Austin--Oak Hill Lend-a-Hand Vocational Scholarship

  • Student must reside in central Texas pursuing vocational training
  • DEADLINE:  April

Scholarships for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S-STEM)

  • Biotechnology and Environmental Science majors planning on enrolling full time. Applicants must meet all other scholarship criteria; application.
  • Scholarship will cover tuition, fees, up to $500 for books and eligible childcare expenses each semester for the entire length of the program.
  • PRIORITY DEADLINE:  Applications accepted year-round

Slough Foundation Scholarship

  • Awarded to students attending full time with at least a 3.0 GPA.  Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and Texas resident at the time of application.
  • DEADLINE:  April 1st

Society of Hispanic Engineers (SHPE) Austin Scholarship Program

  • Awarded to graduating seniors or current college students majoring in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math).
  • Applicants must be of Hispanic heritage

Soroptimist International Women's Opportunity Award

  • Assists women who are the primary financial support for their families.  Applicants must have financial need.
  • DEADLINE:  December

STARS Scholarship

  • Students from South Texas that have completed 12 credit hours with at least a 2.7 GPA.
  • DEADLINE:  March

St. David's Medical Center Healthcare Volunteers Scholarship

  • Students pursing a healthcare field with at least 60 credit hours.
