Knowbility connects people with disabilities to greater opportunities by advancing barrier-free information technology. People with disabilities want to be able to learn, to work, and to contribute to their society just as everyone does. Over 70% of people with disabilities who are willing and able to work are unemployed. At the same time, there are tens of thousands of jobs in the IT industry that go unfilled because there are not enough trained IT workers. Knowbility is working to bridge that gap through three sets of services:

Action Without Borders, Inc. (www.idealist.org)
Action Without Borders is a global network of individuals and organizations working to build a world where all people can live free and dignified lives. The organization is a nonprofit independent of any government, political ideology, or religious creed. Its work is guided by the common desire of its members and supporters to find practical solutions to social and environmental problems, in a spirit of generosity and mutual respect. Since 1995 Action Without Borders has been using the Web to build an online community of nonprofits and community organizations around the world.
The Web site idealist.org allows organizations to connect with volunteers, potential employees, and other organizations with similar interests. Individuals can use the site to find volunteer opportunities, internships, jobs, events, and other resources. The site currently serves 27,000 organizations in 153 countries and is visited by 20,000 people everyday.

Kartoo (www.kartoo.com)
Kartoo is a new search engine. Actually, it's a meat search engine -- it uses the results of other search engines. What makes it unique is it's graphic interface. It's a wonderful new tool if you like to look at results graphically. It takes some new skill to learn how to use Kartoo, but the innovation is worth the effort. Kartoo is obviously a project under construction. I expect to see great improvements in the years to come.
