The ACC Student
Success Initiative is an institutional commitment to enhance
learning and success for all students regardless of age, gender, ethnicity,
race or socio-economic status. ACC has ALWAYS been focused on student
success, but to truly "close the gaps" in higher education participation and
success - especially among the fastest growing populations - we have to
increase the rate of student success, especially among first in family to
attend college, the economically disadvantaged, and Hispanic and Black
students. The goal of "equity of student success" in all categories of
students is, of course, a hallmark goal of American community colleges. Our
success in this goal is directly related to goals of ensuring a strong
regional workforce, and in building a larger and stronger middle class.

The core goals are:
- Reduce attrition
- Complete developmental and adult education course progression to credit courses
- Complete gateway courses (high enrollment areas)
- Increase persistence (term to term/ year to year)
- Enhance student learning/completion of attempted courses with a 'C' or better
- Increase degree/certificate graduates
- Increase success equity across all racial/ethnic/gender/income groups.
