To graduate from Austin Community College you must:
Spring 2012 Graduation Application Deadline is April 2nd.
- Apply for graduation
- Complete all courses for your degree plan
- Complete all core curriculum and general education coursework
- Have official transcripts from institutions on file in Admissions and Records
- Complete at least 25 percent of your degree or certificate credits at ACC.
- Earn at least a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale on your ACC coursework.
- Earn at least a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale on any transfer coursework.
- If you are a TSI-obligated student seeking an associate degree or certificate level 2 or 3, you must pass the certification form of the state-approved assessment.
- Fulfill all obligations to the college
Catalog in Effect
Students may graduate under the terms of the catalog in effect when they entered ACC or any subsequent catalog under which they attended, provided:
- The catalog is not more than 5 years old; and
- The degree or certificate plan has not been discontinued by the college.
Students whose majors are discontinued have two years in which to complete the degree before the official deactivation of the affected instructional program. Students needing more information about this policy should contact an academic advisor or counselor.
Apply for graduation
Once you've reached the final semester of your degree or certificate program, it's time to apply for graduation. Degrees and certificates are awarded at the end of each semester, and graduation ceremonies are held each May.
- Meet with an advisor in the department of your major to make sure you meet all program requirements.
- Complete a graduation application in online student services by logging into: http://www.austincc.edu/onlineservices/ and submit it.
- Make sure previous college transcripts are on file in Admissions and Records no later than three weeks preceding the application deadline.
- Confirm that your correct address and phone number are on file with both the Admissions and Records Office and Graduation Office. All correspondence will be mailed to the address listed on the Graduation Application.
Additional Information
- Applications completed after the deadline will be processed the next semester.
- "Incomplete” grades for courses in progress or AU for audited courses do not fulfill requirements for degrees or certificates.
- Students are required to reapply for graduation in a following semester if requirements are not met.
- Students may not earn more than one Associate of Arts degree or more than one Associate of Science Degree.
- Students may not receive an Associate of Arts Degree in General Studies at the same time or after receiving another Associate Degree.
- Students may not receive a College-Credit Certificate at the same time or after receiving an Associate of Applied Science Degree in the same program.
