Making the decision to transfer is exciting, full of possibilities, and yet at times, it may seem uncertain. You will have many questions and perhaps you may even question your ability to succeed in a new environment. Know that you are not alone in the process, ACC’s academic advisors and counselors are available to assist you develop your personal transfer plan.

Key to a successful transfer: Start planning early

Even if you do not intend to transfer until you complete your basic courses or your associate degree, you should start the transfer process now. To begin developing your personal transfer plan, consider two questions:
  • What is your major?
  • What colleges or universities interest you?

If you have not decided on a major, don’t worry. You can start by exploring majors at the universities that interest you. If you are unsure about what university you will want to attend, no problem. Start by exploring those universities that offer your preferred major. Keep in mind that not all majors are offered at every university.

Our Career and Transfer Centers offer you access to online resources that will assist you explore different majors and universities. Also, the centers offer a library of catalogs and transfer guides to help you in your planning.

Create a degree path that is right for you

Transfer students may follow two paths: The path you select is dependent on whether you would like to earn an associate degree even before you transfer to a university. Bear in mind that not all courses in an associate degree may apply toward your bachelor’s degree. Good luck with your exciting journey of continuing your studies at a four-year college.
