This means you must receive the vaccination and submit this proof 10 days before the first day of classes. If possible, obtain and receive the Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination prior to arriving in the United States. Request this immunization record as proof that you have received this vaccine. If the immunization record is not in English, obtain a certified English translation. The only two types of meningococcal vaccines accepted are:

  • Meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine (MPSV4)
  • Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4)

More information on these vaccines can be found at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website.

If neither of these vaccines is available in your home country, you should make plans to receive this vaccination when upon arrival in Austin, TX. Please visit the following web page for more information on the Bacterial Meningitis Requirement: http://www.austincc.edu/apply/immunizations/.
