Transfer Seminar – What International Students Need to Know about Transferring to Another School

Join us for a special workshop on transfer and graduation on Friday, September 12th, 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the Rio Grande campus, room 129.  International Student Advisor Andy Harris will discuss applying to a 4-year college or university as well as how you can best prepare now through the right ACC transfer courses for your major.  The workshop will also focus on ensuring your F-1 status travels safely with you to your new school.  We will have time for questions and answers, so please bring whatever unique concerns you may have.  This workshop is free and open to all international students at ACC.

World Community Club Invites You to Semester Kick-Off Meeting

Meet new friends and get involved at ACC!  ACC’s World Community Club will hold their first meeting of the semester next week and they want you to come!  The WCC will meet on Wednesday, September 10th from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the Rio Grande Campus in room 122.  They will set the schedule for this semester’s meetings, nominate officers, and discuss WCC activities for the fall.

F-1 Student = 12 hours

As a friendly reminder to all F-1 students at ACC, Immigration regulations state that you must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours in both the Fall and Spring semesters.  Students who do not enroll in and attend at least 12 credit hours per semester risk losing their F-1 visa status.  If you are not currently taking at least 12 hours, you still have time to enroll in a 12-week or 8-week course and you should contact the International Student Office immediately to inquire about your options.

I-20’s for New F-1 Students Available Soon

If this is your first semester as an F-1 student at ACC and you don’t have your I-20 yet, don’t worry - we haven’t forgotten about you!  The International Student Office is hard at work preparing your ACC I-20 and we will contact you soon by e-mail to notify you that it is ready for pick-up.  Remember is it very important that you have a valid I-20 with you, so you should come for it immediately after we contact you.  If you do not come to retrieve your I-20, our office will put a hold on your record that will prevent you from registering classes.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the ISO.
