Sustainability
Recycling

In the U.S., recycling efforts can divert more than 60 million tons (54 million metric tons) of waste away from landfills yearly. That amounts to about 32 percent of all of our garbage [source: EPA]

Recycling helps to save energy as well as preserving our limited resources. Recycling aluminum uses as little as 5% of the energy required by virgin production.

ACC recycles;

  • Paper: newspapers, magazines, catalogs, junk mail & office paper, phone books.

  • Thin "cardboard" box (technically known as pasteboard, paperboard or boxboard) which includes cereal boxes, soda cartons, shoe boxes, the cardboard backing on pads of paper

  • Cans: aluminum, steel, and tin

  • Plastic (#1 through #7): includes bottles, bottle caps, tubs, utensils, containers

  • Corrugated cardboard: corrugated cardboard boxes can be recycled by writing "RECYCLE" on them and placing next to a recycling bin. Please remove styrofoam, plastic bags, and other such packing materials as these items are not currently recyclable.
