Announcing the 2007 TACWT Student Writers Winners

The 2007 Student Writing Contest is complete. TACWT is proud to announce the winners in the Students section.

Conference at the University of Houston, September 27-29, 2007

Please make plans to attend the Texas Association of Creative Writing Teachers conference in Houston on September 27, 28, and 29. Dr. Sybil Estess and her husband, Ted, Dean of the Honors College at the University of Houston have done an outstanding job of arranging accommodations for our conference and we owe them and the Honors program at the University of Houston many thanks. The conference events will take place on campus, mainly in or around the Rockwell Room of the Honors College, which is about a three or four minute walk from the hotel. This year we will have a Thursday evening reception, a Friday lunch, and our Friday evening banquet at the Honors College. Conference registration, which will be $60 ($75 if you need to renew your annual membership), will include the reception, the lunch, the banquet, and coffee service Friday and Saturday mornings.

TACWT has secured a block of rooms at the Hilton University of Houston for those attending the TACWT conference. The conference rate for a single room is $88.00 and doubles are $99.00 (and then there's the 17% tax to add to those figures). The bad news is that this hotel has gone 100% non smoking. However, there is a smoking area adjacent to the hotel lobby and other designated smoking areas on the campus of the University of Houston.
