Student Portfolios and Projects

To complete their certificate or degree, students in the BTCM program develop a print or online portfolio showcasing their work in this program as well as in related courses, suitable for employment-seeking efforts:

The BTCM program covers online and print documentation skills, as well as technical editing, technical report writing, and grammar, copyediting, and proofreading skills for the professional writer. Students do their projects in HTML, RoboHelp, FrameMaker, and other mainstream applications. Some of these projects are team-based, simulating the development environment in industry. Student Employment

Students in the Austin Community College's Business & Technical Communications (BTCM) are automatically added to an e-mail list of current and former students. Faculty members regularly send out employment and internship notices. (The BTCM program has no formal system of placement.)
