Internships and Volunteer Work

Sometimes, it's difficult to break into a technical writing career. All the employers want 3 years of experience, it seems. You should go ahead and a take a shot at those employment opportunities that proclaim three years of experience. Sometimes those requirements lists are just wish lists.

But experience is certainly essential. Volunteering writing can be a useful way to build your experience list. Non-profits typically need web pages, policies and procedures, reports, and other sorts of documents. Here is a start at a list of volumteer resources:
