Prerequisites

1. All applicants must have a bachelor's degree with coursework required by the state of Texas.
2. Bilingual candidates will earn both Generalist and Bilingual Certifications with SBEC.
3. Proof of Spanish Oral Academic Proficiency (TOPT).
4. Taking 2 additional exams will add to the additional cost.
5. Bilingual Generalist EC-4: Required college credit for 6 hours of English, 6 hours of Math, 3 hours of Science, 3 hours of Social Studies, (preferably U.S. or Texas history).
6. Bilingual Generalist 4-8: Required college credit for 9 hours of English/Reading, 9 hours of Math, 6 hours of Social Studies, (preferably U.S. or Texas history,) and 9 hours of Science.
