A cohort is a group or band of people; from Roman antiquity, a body of about 300-600 soldiers; and any group or body of warriors. As a Teacher Certification cohort, all participants start at the same time (January) and become "warriors" together as they help learn together, support each other, and weather the ups and downs of teaching as a rookie.
Cohort 2009 - 2010
We begin taking applications in June for the January cohort with a November 1 deadline. Those applying late may be added to a waiting list. Attend an Information Session (July 10, August 2, September 9, and October 4). Members will complete 16 hours of field experience, take EDTC 2000 TExES training, attend an Orientation and Employment Seminar, and begin training in January with EDTC 3000.
Cohort 2008 - 2009
This current cohort is blazing away, learning the WHAT and WHY of teaching. The Summer Institute (June 10-June 27) covers the HOW of teaching and preparing lessons for the upcoming school year. EDTC 3004 (August - November) and EDTC 3005 (January - April 15) also cover the how of collecting and working through data, solving problems, and staying positive. Cohort 2007 - 2008
Members began training in January with EDTC 3000, completed the Summer Institute in June, and will certify together in May, 2008. We have 37 bilingual and math and science (4-8) teachers in area schools! Cohort: For training links, obtain username and password and click online training.
